What can we do with the tecnology we learned tonight?
Tonight in class we learned how to create a slide show using Picasso. This is really new to me but somehow I got through it. While I was putting pictures on Picasso, I thought about how fun it would be for children to create their own album using Picasso. I think it would be a fun project for children to learn. They could create a colouge of their favorite items. This is a great way to teach children how to browse the computer. It is also a good way for children to be creative. I think they would have so much fun with this project. We also learned how to text using pulleverywhere. More children today have cell phones. It would be fun to post a question, and ask the children to text their answer. How exciting would it be for their answers to come up on the board. It's a good way for children to express themselves without feeling the intense pressure. It is also up to todays tecnology and I think they would have fun, and learn. Isn't that our goal for our students?

Yes it is our goal for students to learn so if we have to talk in their language through cell phones and computers I think we as teachers need to get on board to help our students enhance their learning experiencs to be better ahead in life. Not only that our students are having FUN while thet learn. How exciting I wish we where taught this when I was in school :(.
ReplyDeleteI agree that it is our goal to make learning as fun and engaging as possible and we can most definitely do this with technology. Especially with technology like, Picasa. I know that I enjoyed playing with the program and I'm sure that students would enjoy doing so as well.
ReplyDeleteShannon,
ReplyDeleteI also agree on how Picasa can teach children to be able to browse the web and be able to learn how to use programs such as Google to be able to find pictures that they like and be able to upload them to their own album, this does allow them be creative. Also by being able to use polleverywhere in the classroom it allows students to be able to participate in class without having to say much and like you said almost every student has a cell phone now, and since it is our goal to be able to teach students, why not do it using technology.
Shannon,
ReplyDeleteI have to agree, Picasa will be great for children to use and learn while doing so. This program will call upon their imaginations and allow them to learn and hopefully remember what they were taught. Polleverywhere was also such a wonderful site, I have to agree that any student will be excited to see their answer pop up on the board. Polleverwhere seemed perfect for making lectures or even math fun, this site is perfect since you are turning learning into a game. I feel that both of these programs can be used in any classroom to broaden the students and teachers experience.
I think you nailed it on the head when you said we have to speak their language. I think students would learn so much from using these skills in class. They tend to pay more attention to things they are into, and secretly the teacher is sneaking in a lesson. =)
ReplyDeleteShannon,
ReplyDeleteYou know you are so right about students cheating, they will find a way to do it and get away with it. I remember going to VVC and many of the younger students were texting one another and I am sure they were texting the right answers, and I know you won't believe this but I did not know how to text back then??? And how can a teacher not notice what was going on???
